HCM City to launch helicopter sightseeing tours on April 30-May 1 holiday
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City will introduce helicopter sightseeing tours for the first time during the upcoming Reunification Day (April 30) and International Workers' Day (May 1) holiday period, offering visitors panoramic aerial views of the southern metropolis and its surrounding areas.
The plan was confirmed by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports at a press conference on March 26.
According to Tran Ngoc Dong Quan, head of the Travel Management Division under the city’s Department of Tourism, the product is part of a broader tourism stimulus programme for the holiday period, aimed at diversifying travel experiences and boosting visitor demand.
The helicopter tours will depart from Vung Tau Airport, offering four flight options ranging from 15 to 60 minutes each.
The initiative is expected to provide a unique high-altitude perspective of the city while promoting its image as a modern and dynamic destination. Such aerial tours are anticipated to become a distinctive tourism offering, attracting both domestic and international visitors in the near future, said Quan.
In addition, the city will roll out a wide range of tourism promotion activities. The 22nd Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival 2026, themed “Vibrant Summer Fest,” is scheduled to take place from April 2 to 5 at 23-9 Park, Ben Thanh ward. The event will feature more than 120 booths representing travel agencies, hotels, airlines and service providers, introducing promotions for the holiday period and the peak summer season.
Local travel firms are also enhancing connectivity between key attractions through modern and environmentally friendly transport options, including double-decker buses, electric vehicles, river buses, and the city’s metro system.
Other highlights include free walking tours to historical sites and expanded river-based tourism services. Sunset cruises along the Saigon River, combined with high-end dining experiences, are expected to further enrich the city’s tourism offerings.
