Da Nang tourism sees strong growth, targets sustainable expansion in 2026
VOV.VN - Da Nang city, a major tourist destination in central Vietnam, welcomed 17.3 million visitors in 2025, up 15% year on year, underscoring the strong recovery and growing role of tourism in the city’s economic structure.
Building on this momentum, the city aims to serve more than 19 million overnight guests in 2026, an increase of 10.5% compared to 2025.
In 2025, Da Nang operated 26 domestic and international air routes, four more than in 2024, as international visitor markets continued to recover strongly. The local tourism brand and destination appeal have been further reinforced through prestigious international tourism awards and growing popularity among travellers.
According to forecasts, major global tourism trends in the coming period include green tourism, personalised and experiential travel, wellness tourism, community-based and cultural preservation tourism, work-and-travel models, as well as educational and skills-development travel.
In line with these trends, Da Nang has identified culture- and sports-linked tourism as key drivers for differentiation and sustainable growth in 2026. The city has also adopted green tourism standards and high-quality service and product benchmarks as core criteria to enhance destination competitiveness.
Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, revealed the city will focus investment on tourism development in UNESCO-recognised sites such as Hoi An, My Son Sanctuary, and Cu Lao Cham World Biosphere Reserve, promoting the brand “One Green Destination – Three World-Class Experience.”
In 2026, Da Nang will step up tourism promotion and marketing in both domestic and international markets, targeting high-spending visitors and long-stay segments, particularly from Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, India, Australia and Europe, while expanding outreach to potential markets such as India, the Middle East and the United States, she said.
The city will also work to restore and open new international air routes from key and emerging markets, while orienting tourism development toward the southern part of the city, with a strong focus on green tourism and community-based tourism, she added.
