Da Nang targets top three position in major cultural industry centers by 2030

VOV.VN - The central city of Da Nang plans to establish itself as a national key center for cultural industries by 2030, with the sector contributing over 13% of the city’s GRDP.

The city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently held a consultation workshop on the development of cultural industries through 2030.

In her speech, Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Department, emphasized that culture serves both as a spiritual foundation and a creative resource driving economic growth and enhancing local prestige. The city seeks to become the leading arts and cultural hub in the south central coast and Central Highlands region while ranking among the nation’s top three cultural industry centers.

In recent years, Da Nang has invested in upgrading cultural infrastructure, expanding creative spaces, and hosting international events such as the International Fireworks Festival, the Asia Film Festival, and heritage-craft-street art experience tours, helping shape the city’s cultural brand.

According to Ha Vy, Deputy Director of the Department, film, broadcasting, and television are key sectors, targeted to grow 19-19.5% annually, with the goal of becoming one of Vietnam’s top three film centers.

However, the city still faces challenges, including small-scale cultural enterprises, a lack of leading brands, insufficient creative talent, and underdeveloped mechanisms, markets, and creative environments.

The workshop discussed solutions to promote cultural industries while preserving traditional, historical, and regional cultural values, linking them with tourism and economic development.

Nguyen Thi Anh Thi, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, affirmed that developing cultural industries is an essential internal driver for sustainable economic transformation.

Success will depend on strong political commitment, superior governance, and focused investment. She called on the Department to coordinate with relevant units to finalize special policies and breakthrough measures, thus creating optimal conditions for artists and enterprises, and transforming culture into a critical resource and growth driver for the city.
