Vietnam’s aquatic product industry has recorded a strong rebound, with export turnover in the first nine months of 2025 reaching US$8.33 billion, up 15.5% year on year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Vietnam’s aquatic exports are on pace to reach US$10 billion in 2025, but rising trade and technical barriers, particularly in the US, are prompting exporters to pivot toward diversification and value-added processing to maintain momentum.

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s tra fish (pangasius) exports are projected to surpass US$2 billion this year after earning more than US$1.4 billion over the period January-August, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Although Vietnam’s tra fish has emerged as the global leader in Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certified tra fish production and steadily expanded its presence in premium markets, experts have advised aquaculture businesses and farmers to quickly adapt to the new, stricter ASC standards.

Vietnam and Brazil, boasting robust friendship and cooperation for years, are now leveraging the complementary strengths of their economies to elevate the bilateral relations to a new high.

VOV.VN - Tra fish (pangasius) shipments to Brazil between early January and April 15 soared by 67% to US$55 million, making the country Vietnam’s third-largest export market for the product, following China and the US, according to Vietnam Customs.

Vietnam’s tra fish exports are expected to sustain strong momentum into 2025, with projected revenues reaching approximately US$2 billion, on par with 2024 figures, the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has forecast.
