Nearly 1.3 million poor and near-poor households had got access to loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) to cope with COVID-19 in the first half of this year.

Some 8.55 million poor and near poor people, AO/dioxin victims and disadvantaged workers nationwide have enjoyed a warmer traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday since they received support worth more than VND6.11 trillion (US$265.24 million) through the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) at all levels and trade unions.

The Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) said it is providing loans for 6.4 million poor and near-poor households.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) plans to offer over 12,000 packages of Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts to poor households and welfare facilities at a total cost of over VND14 billion (US$606,519), according to Vice President of the VFF Central Committee Truong Thi Ngoc Anh.
