It has been more than a year since the fight against plastic waste was launched on a national scale and despite claims of success by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, single-use plastic bags are still commonly used at markets and supermarkets in Hanoi.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's Directorate of Fisheries, in collaboration with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the Center for Supporting Green Development (Greenhub), held a workshop on September 25 to tackle the issue of ocean plastic waste in Ha Long city, the northern province of Quang Ninh.

International Youth Day 2020, themed “Vietnam we want in 2030: The youth act for a clean environment”, was marked during a ceremony in Hanoi on August 12.
