PepsiCo Vietnam to launch major snack factory ahead of National Day

VOV.VN - PepsiCo Vietnam is set to inaugurate a new snack facility with an annual capacity of over 25,600 tonnes of packaged products in northern Ninh Binh province ahead of National Day (September 2).

Located in the expanded Dong Van I Industrial Park, the US$89 million facility spans eight hectares and specialises in potato chips and other savory snacks. Construction began in August 2024, with the first production line completing trial operations on July 28. Additional lines are being installed and calibrated.

Once fully operational, the plant will serve as a strategic hub for PepsiCo’s food business in Vietnam, boosting supply chain resilience, expanding distribution in the north, and enhancing access to nearby markets such as China, Cambodia, and Laos.

The project will initially employ around 300 workers directly and create over 1,000 additional jobs in agriculture, logistics, warehousing, and sales. By 2030, the factory is expected to generate annual revenues of VND2 trillion (US$80 million) and contribute VND180 billion (US$7.2 million) to the state budget, with total employment forecast to reach 530.

Nguyen Mai Chi, Corporate Affairs Lead for PepsiCo Vietnam, said the project has set a company record in Vietnam and the Asia-Pacific region by completing construction and commissioning in just 51 weeks. She emphasised that the facility demonstrates Vietnam’s appeal to foreign investors and PepsiCo’s long-term commitment to job creation and sustainable development.

The Ninh Binh plant will also play a key role in developing a high-tech, sustainable potato supply chain from the Central Highlands to northern Vietnam, while supporting both domestic demand and regional exports.
