Vietnam arrive in China for AFC Women’s Futsal Championship

VOV.VN - The Vietnam women’s futsal team arrived in Inner Mongolia (China) on May 1 night for the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship.

Upon arrival, head coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his players quickly moved to Wanhao Hotel, about 10 minutes by bus from the airport.

The Vietnamese players began training on May 2 before playing a crucial friendly match against 24th-ranked China on May 3 evening. This match will give the coach a final opportunity to assess the team’s form, lineup, and tactics ahead of the tournament, aiming to get a ticket to the 2025 FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup to be held later this year in the Philippines.

“China have made great progress recently. They recently played two friendlies against Indonesia (world No. 17), winning 3-2 and losing 1-4. We also played China twice last year. This upcoming friendly will be an important warm-up before the official matches begin,” said coach Hoang.

Prior to arriving in China, Vietnam had a one-week training camp in Japan, where they beat Fugador Sumida Ladies 2-0 and lost 1-4 to Japan's national futsal team (world No. 10).

The 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship will take place from May 7 to 18 in Inner Mongolia. Vietnam have bên placed in Group B alongside Hong Kong, the Philippines and Iran.

The top two teams from each of the three groups, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.

The top three teams (champion, runner-up, and third place) will qualify for the 2025 FIFA Women's Futsal World Cup in the Philippines.
