PM requests addressing aftermath of Ha Tinh tragic bus accident

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 25 issued an urgent directive, calling on relevant agencies to promptly address the consequences of a tragic sleeper bus accident in Ha Tinh that claimed 10 lives and injured 14 others.

The Prime Minister instructed Ha Tinh province to mobilise all available medical resources and supplies to treat the injured, minimise losses, and provide support and condolences to the victims’ families. The province was also tasked with convening a meeting with relevant authorities to determine the cause of the accident and address any existing shortcomings.

Da Nang City, where the sleeper bus was registered, was ordered to review the operations of the transport company involved and strictly handle any violations committed by the transport business, vehicle owner, or operators.

The Ministry of Public Security was directed to urgently investigate the cause of the accident, prosecute any individuals or organisations at fault, and strengthen patrols and oversight of passenger transport operations, particularly monitoring GPS tracking systems on commercial vehicles.

The Prime Minister also urged other provinces and cities to enhance inspections of transport businesses, focusing on vehicle safety conditions, driver qualifications, working hours, and health status. He emphasised the need for strict enforcement to prevent similar tragedies and to ensure public safety on the roads.

The serious traffic accident occurred at around 2a.m. on July 25 at section Km571+800 on National Highway 1A in Song Tri ward, Ha Tinh province, resulting in 9 fatalities and 15 injuries.

Another injured passenger later passed away at the Ha Tinh Provincial General Hospital, raising the death toll to 10.

Witnesses said while passing through Song Tri ward, the bus lost control, collided with roadside markers, and overturned. At the scene, the vehicle was found severely damaged, with the front and body of the bus deformed, shattered windows, and luggage scattered outside the vehicle.

Authorities examined the scene, collected data, and conducted an in-depth investigation into the cause of the crash.
