Korean man sentenced to death for killing his father in Vietnam

VOV.VN - The Ho Chi Minh City People's Court on May 28 sentenced to death Lim Young Kwon, a 42-year-old national of the Republic of Korea, for killing his father in the city.

According to the indictment, Lim lived with his Vietnamese wife, N.T.M., and their two children in an apartment in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.

After an argument on March 10, 2024, Lim assaulted his wife and killed the family dog. His wife then took the children to stay elsewhere and called Lim’s father, Lim J., who was in the Republic of Korea, to report the incident.

Two days later, J. flew to Vietnam to advise his son. That evening, after drinking beer and talking with his son, J. went to sleep in a separate room.

Lim could not sleep and grew angry, believing his father was siding with his wife and scolding him. He then decided to kill his father.

He took a knife and a pair of scissors from the kitchen, entered his father’s room, pinned him down, and stabbed him multiple times until he died.

After the murder, Lim injured his own hands with the knife, threw the weapons off the balcony, wandered outside, and eventually fell asleep on the apartment lawn.

The next morning, security guards found him covered in blood and called the police. Simultaneously, Lim’s wife and building staff discovered the apartment door unlocked and found J. dead near the bedroom door.
