Major drug trafficking ring from Laos to Vietnam busted

VOV.VN - On April 15, border forces in the northern mountainous province of Dien Bien, in coordination with local police, successfully smashed a major drug trafficking ring smuggling illegal substances from Laos into Vietnam, arresting two suspects during the operation.

The suspects were identified as Mu A Nha, 31, from Suoi Thin village in Chieng Son commune, Moc Chau district, Son La province, and Mua A Phang, 28, from Sop Bao district, Houaphanh province, Laos.

According to preliminary reports, while patrolling Deo Hoa area in Mun Chung commune, Tuan Giao district, the border guards stopped a suspicious taxi traveling towards Dien Bien from Hanoi. Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered 66,000 synthetic drug pills concealed in several wooden chair shipments, along with two blocks of heroin.

The suspects later admitted that their intention was to distribute the drugs to buyers in Hanoi. A further investigation is ongoing.
