Lao man prosecuted for smuggling large drug haul at Vietnam border
VOV.VN - Border guards in Vietnam’s central Quang Tri province have launched criminal proceedings against a Lao national for illegal possession of a large quantity of drugs in the border town of Lao Bao, near Vietnam – Laos border.

TonSakSith LatXaKham, 23, was caught red handed at a hotel in Lao Bao town on May 12 possessing illegal drugs, including 40,000 synthetic drug tablets and three kg of crystal methamphetamine. All illicit substances were seized at the scene.
During questioning, the Lao man confessed that he had been hired to transport the drugs from Lao Bao to Dong Ha for a fee.
Local authorities continue to expand the investigation in accordance with Vietnamese law to identify others involved in the case.
