KOLs urged to foster responsible and sustainable digital society

VOV.VN - Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) were urged to spread positive values, act responsibly, protect digital trust, fight misinformation, and join the nation in building a civilised and sustainable digital society, at a KOL summit in Hanoi on August 18.

Speaking at the event, Major General Le Xuan Minh, director of the Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Public Security, stated that in the digital era, KOLs on cyberspace are emerging as a special force shaping social awareness, driving innovation trends, and promoting Vietnamese identity and values worldwide.

“They are not only representatives of new trends but also ‘digital ambassadors,’ playing an important role in national development and in realising the four foundational pillars of the country’s new era,” he stressed.

He was referring to four key resolutions, including Resolution 68 on private sector development, Resolution 66 on reforming lawmaking and enforcement, Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, and Resolution 59 on international integration in the new context.

According to the Major General, KOLs are now a source of motivation accompanying the Party, the State, and the people in building the digital economy, digital culture, and digital society. The Party and the State always give special attention to this force, by issuing many guidelines and policies to create a healthy development environment for KOLs.

However, the Major General emphasised that the greater the influence, the greater the responsibility, and that each KOL must be deeply aware of the impact of every statement, image, and action.

“This conference offers a platform for dialogue and sharing, helping to shape and redirect influence responsibly, while initiating community-driven efforts for a safe, civilised, and creative cyberspace,” he noted.

At the summit, organisers launched the Digital Trust Alliance that comprises reputable and influential KOLs, together with state management agencies, online platforms, and businesses. They also kick-started the KOL Credibility Programme aimed at promoting positive images, codes of conduct, and community standards as a foundation for building a community of responsible, proactive, and patriotic KOLs.

During a thematic session as part of the summit, presentations focused on practical issues such as enhancing the social responsibility of KOLs, creating a safe and healthy online environment, fostering creativity tied to human values, and strengthening cooperation between regulatory bodies, digital platforms, and the KOL community.

Many celebrities shared their perspectives, stressing their aspiration to contribute to the development of a civilized digital society. In addition, nearly 20 papers from KOLs, businesses, platforms, and regulatory agencies, offered diverse insights and solutions for the sustainable growth of the KOL ecosystem.

A panel discussion themed “Trust and Expectations” also took place vibrantly during the summit, bringing together representatives from state management agencies, businesses, digital platforms, and several outstanding KOLs. Discussions revolved around policies, technological solutions, communication strategies, and content creation, with the shared goal of cultivating a healthier, more sustainable digital environment.

The sharing of views opened up a variety of perspectives — from management policies, technological solutions, and communication strategies to the content creation stories of KOLs — thereby contributing to shaping a healthy and sustainable digital environment.

This is the first national-scale summit of its kind in Vietnam, providing a forum to connect the KOL community with stakeholders, spread positive values, and accompany the country’s sustainable development in the digital era.

The summit, co-hosted by the National Cybersecurity Association and Department of Cybersecurity and High-Tech Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Public Security, is expected to become an annual event, serving as a bridge for KOLs, businesses, platforms, and regulatory agencies to collaborate, share, and shape the development of a healthy and sustainable cyberspace.
