June 28 morning sees more 97 local cases recorded, including 62 in HCM City
VOV.VN - The Health Ministry reported the latest detection of a further 97 domestic COVID-19 infections on June 28 morning, with 62 recorded in Ho Chi Minh City, the second worst-hit locality in the ongoing coronavirus wave.
The 97 new patients were recorded in eight localities, namely HCM City (62), Phu Yen (10), Nghe An (9), Long An (6), Bac Ninh (4), Lang Son (2), Quang Ninh (2) and Bac Giang (2).
In HCM City, 51 cases had contact with confirmed patients, six are linked to the Son Ky market in Tan Phu district, four are related to the Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park in Cu Chi district, and another to the Revival Ekklesia Mission.
The cases in other provinces are either F1 contacts with confirmed patients or were detected in blocked down areas relating to industrial parks.
One day earlier, the country documented a total of 314 new COVID-19 cases of local transmission, with Ho Chi Minh City reporting the highest number of infections at 200, followed by the southern province of Binh Duong at 36, and the northern province of Bac Giang at 20.
As many as 12,401 local infections were recorded across 48 cities and provinces since the latest wave of outbreaks hit the country nearly two months ago, while the total COVID-19 fatalities rose to 76 following the confirmation of another death on June 27.
The total recoveries increased to 6,319 after a further 182 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease.
An additional 87,375 people were inoculated against COVID-19 on June 27 alone in 18 provinces and cities throughout the nation.
Nationwide, nearly 3.8 million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19, mainly frontline coronavirus fighters.
In the face of the increasingly complicated developments of COVID-19, numerous Vietnamese localities have imposed stronger social distancing measures in an effort to slow the rapid spread of the virus to the wider community.
