Vo Thi Anh Xuan re-elected as Vice President of Vietnam
VOV.VN - The 16th National Assembly of Vietnam unanimously approved a resolution to re-elect Vo Thi Anh Xuan as Vice President of Vietnam for the 2026–2031 term at the ongoing session of the 16th legislature in Hanoi on April 7.
All 485 deputies present voted in favour, accounting for 100% of attendees. The resolution took effect immediately upon adoption.
Born on January 8, 1970, in An Giang province, Xuan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Theory and a Master’s degree in public management.
Before assuming the role of Vice President, she held various leadership positions at the local and provincial levels, starting as a high school teacher at My Thoi High School in An Giang, then serving as deputy head and head of the An Giang Women’s Union, Secretary of Tan Chau Town Party Committee, and Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee.
Throughout her career, she was repeatedly elected to the Central Committee of the Communist Party and is currently a member of the 14th Party Secretariat.
Xuan has also served as a National Assembly deputy for both the 15th and 16th terms and temporarily held the position of Acting President in 2023 and 2024, reflecting her long-standing experience and strong leadership within the state apparatus.
