Party building and rectification drive expected to reap greater success
VOV.VN - People have voiced their strong support for newly elected Party General Secretary To Lam’s commitment on the corruption fight, and expected that the ongoing Party building and rectification drive would notch up greater success in the time to come.
President To Lam was elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee at an extraordinary plenum of the Party Central Committee in Hanoi on August 3.
Speaking at an international press conference held shortly after being elected, To Lam vowed to move forward the Party building and rectification drive, including the fight against corruption and negativity.
Anti-corruption and negativity will be constantly promoted under the motto of “no off limit zones” and “no exceptions,” stressed the newly elected Party leader.
Many senior officials, Party members and people immediately expressed their support for Party chief and President To Lam’s commitment on the anti-corruption campaign which was previously championed by late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Dr. Le Trung Kien, lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, expected that the Party building and rectification drive, as the valuable legacy of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, would be promoted seamlessly, thoroughly and consistently by the new Party leader.
“I do hope that the fight against corruption and negativity, which is inherently inevitable and an irreversible trend, will continue to be reinforced from now until the end of the 2021-2026 term of the 13th National Party Congress into the following terms, said Kien in a short interview granted to VOV.
He said he believes that General Secretary and President To Lam will make good use of experience he has acquired to step up the late Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong’s “blazing furnace” campaign, in order to build a political system with integrity and for the people.
“He will soon prove that the fight is of great significance, not just a slogan but everyday reality,” stressed the lecturer.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Tran Van Do, former Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, said that the Party building and rectification campaign, including the fight against corruption, receives special attention from the Party and State. The campaign, which was championed by late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, who was also head of the Central Steering Committee for Prevention and Control of Corruption and Negative Phenomena, has been supported by officials, Party members and people from all walks of life and achieved many important results.
He expressed his belief that General Secretary and President To Lam will leave his mark when he continues with the campaign.
“It’s undeniable that Vietnam has done a good job with the fight against corruption in recent times in the spirit of continuity, no off limit zones, and no exceptions. In addition to fighting, we must focus on building and perfecting mechanisms to prevent corruption from occurring rampantly,” said Do.
Sharing his perspective, Vu Trong Kim, a deputy to the current National Assembly, said he believes that the fight against the “internal enemy” under the leadership of the newly elected Party General Secretary will record new encouring results in the coming time.
Kim, who is also Chairman of the Association of Former Vietnamese Youth Volunteers, recalled that before being elected as General Secretary and President, To Lam had a long time working as Minister of Public Security and also as deputy head of the Central Steering Committee for Preventing and Controlling Corruption and Negative Phenomena. To Lam has acquired a wealth of experience after directly engaging in the fight, closely following the instructions of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
“The fight against corruption will certainly reap greater success when the head of the Party and the State receives strong support of Party members and people,” he concluded.
