Chinese leader Xi Jinping congratulates newly elected Vietnamese Party chief
VOV.VN - Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and President of China, on August 3 sent a message of congratulation to President To Lam on his election as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
In his congratulatory message, Xi noted that the Communist Party of Vietnam has in recent times concretised the Resolution adopted at the 13th National Party Congress by promoting the Party building and rectification drive, the Renewal process and socialism building, reaping new, great achievements.
He expressed his belief that under the resilient leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the entire Party and people of Vietnam would successfully implement the goals and tasks set by the 13th National Party Congress and at the same time make good preparations for the coming 14th National Party Congress, constantly working towards the two 100-year goals of establishing the Party and the country.
According to Xi, both China and Vietnam are friendly and socialist neighbours sharing mountains and rivers. They released a joint statement on further deepening and elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, during his State visit to Vietnam in December 2023.
He vowed to work alongside the newly elected Vietnamese Party General Secretary to realize the statement, including strengthening traditional friendship, building on political trust, deepening strategic exchanges, and promoting practical cooperation, thereby bringing more happiness to the two peoples, and making a positive contribution to the cause of peace and progress of humanity.
President To Lam was elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee at its plenum in Hanoi on August 3.
