Russian President Putin congratulates newly elected Vietnamese Party chief
VOV.VN - Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a message of congratulation to Vietnamese President To Lam on his election as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee.

In his congratulatory message dated August 3, Putin said the election testified to To Lam’s high political prestige and his contributions to Vietnam’s socio-economic development, thus enhancing the country’s position in the international arena.
He appreciated To Lam’s efforts in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, and hoped to have constructive dialogue and joint coordination in urgent issues both bilaterally and internationally with the new Vietnamese Party leader to meet the core interests of the peoples of Russia and Vietnam, and contribute to strengthening security and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.
President To Lam was elected General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) at an extraordinary CPVCC plenum in Hanoi on August 3.
