Vietnam ready to share development experience, deepen cooperation with Arab states
VOV.VN - President Luong Cuong affirmed Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening ties with Arab nations and working together for a just, humane, and peaceful world during his policy address at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, on August 4.

In his remarks, President Cuong who was on a State visit to Egypt, hailed the Arab League’s 80-year journey as a common home for Arab countries, a symbol of unity, resilience, and the shared aspiration for development. He expressed Vietnam’s deep appreciation for the League’s tireless efforts to promote peace, cooperation, and progress, and to affirm the influence and position of Arab countries both regionally and globally.
The President noted that, drawing from the shared history of solidarity and strong bonds, and the deeply treasured traditional friendship, Vietnam wishes to write a new chapter in its multifaceted cooperation with Arab nations, for peace, cooperation, and development.
He noted that while peace and development remain the prevailing global trends, the world is concurrently facing unprecedented challenges. Traditional security flashpoints persist, while non-traditional threats, such as climate change, water and food insecurity, and cyber risks, are becoming increasingly severe.
Moreover, protectionism, trade tensions, global fragmentation, and supply chain disruptions fueled by geopolitical rivalries are undermining the legitimate interests of developing countries, including Vietnam and Arab states.
In the face of such global challenges, President Cuong called for a strong commitment to multilateralism, respect for international law, and enhanced South–South cooperation, including between Vietnam and Arab countries.
He then shared Vietnam’s nearly 40-year journey of Đổi mới (Renovation), which has transformed the country into one of the world’s top 20 trading economies, while maintaining political and social stability, controlling inflation, improving social welfare, and raising living standards.
He distilled Vietnam’s development path into five key lessons, namely unwavering commitment to socialism; the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam; strategic reform thinking; people-centred development; and continuous institutional and policy innovation.
Looking ahead, Vietnam aspires to become an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income, developed economy by 2045. To achieve these goals, it is focusing on three strategic breakthroughs - improving institutions, developing high-quality human resources, and modernizing infrastructure, while also advancing digital transformation, innovation, and global integration.
Regarding Vietnam–Arab relations, President Cuong emphasised that Vietnam has established diplomatic ties with all 22 Arab League members and seeks to strengthen political trust, high-level exchanges, and cooperation in priority fields such as industry, agriculture, Halal services, education and training, labour, and tourism.
He expressed hope that Arab countries would share their experiences and support Vietnam in developing a robust Halal industry, boosting exports, and expanding the supply of Halal-certified products and services to Muslim communities in the Arab world.
The President also encouraged greater coordination between Vietnam and Arab states at regional and international forums. As an active ASEAN member, Vietnam is committed to contributing to regional and global issues and stands ready to serve as a bridge in fostering closer ASEAN–Arab League relations.
He concluded by reaffirming Vietnam’s commitment to peace, fairness, and international cooperation, expressing confidence that through collective efforts, both regions can help build a better, more just, and more humane world.
