Vietnam promotes comprehensive, substantive cooperation with African countries
VOV.VN - Upon arriving in Cairo on August 3 for a State visit to Egypt, President Luong Cuong held a working session with Vietnamese Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnam’s diplomatic missions in Africa, to increase political trust and strengthen cooperation with African countries in multiple fields.

At the meeting, leaders from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasised that Africa is increasingly seen as a new growth pole of the world with significant potential for development and cooperation. Vietnam currently maintains eight embassies across the continent, with ambassadors concurrently accredited to several other countries. In recent years, Vietnam’s diplomatic engagement in Africa has shown positive progress, paving the way for further enhanced cooperation in the coming period.
The Ambassadors reported on the situation in their respective host countries, highlighting key aspects of Vietnam’s bilateral relations with those countries. They also outlined the challenges faced in their diplomatic missions, including differences in customs and traditions, working environments, and the complex situations of conflict and disease in some regions. They made several proposals and recommendations to strengthen Vietnam–Africa relations.
President Cuong commended the ambassadors for their dedication and efforts in fostering ties with African friends, despite the difficulties of working in distant and challenging environments.
He highly appreciated their proactive, responsible, and committed efforts in strengthening friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and African countries. He requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies to study and summarise the proposals for submission to competent authorities for appropriate policy responses.
The President urged the Ambassadors to stay closely aligned with the foreign policy guidelines of the Party and the State, especially the Politburo’s Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new context. He stressed the importance of strengthening research, strategic forecasting, and timely reporting and advising to avoid being caught off guard by unexpected developments in the regional and global landscape.

Given the strong foundation of historical solidarity and mutual support during national liberation struggles, President Cuong called on the Ambassadors to continue serving as reliable bridges, fostering political trust and expanding practical, effective cooperation with African partners.
He also asked the embassies to enhance their role in supporting the Vietnamese community and citizen protection efforts, helping overseas Vietnamese integrate into local societies while elevating the image and status of the Vietnamese community. Furthermore, embassies should actively coordinate with local authorities and assist Vietnamese businesses operating in Africa.
The President reaffirmed that the Party and State are always concerned about and committed to creating favourable mechanisms and policies, ensuring proper working and living conditions for diplomatic personnel. He expressed hope that the Ambassadors and their staff would uphold solidarity, maintain a clean and strong internal organisation, and continue demonstrating responsibility, proactiveness, and innovation to fulfill all assigned political missions successfully.
