Venezuelan political forces congratulate Vietnam Party Congress’s success
VOV.VN - Representatives of Venezuelan political forces on February 11 (local time) visited the Embassy of Vietnam in Caracas to congratulate the success of the recent 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).
The delegation was led by Saul Ortega, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Venezuelan National Assembly and Chairman of the Venezuela–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group.
At the meeting, Ortega conveyed warm congratulations from President of the National Assembly Jorge Rodriguez to Party General Secretary To Lam and the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. He expressed confidence that Vietnam would continue to record major achievements and successfully realise its development goals toward 2030, with a vision to 2045.
Ortega noted that the Venezuela–Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group for the 2026–2031 term was established by the National Assembly in January 2026, with broad participation from members of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), other parties in the ruling coalition and several opposition parties. Their visit to the Vietnamese Embassy marked one of the group’s first official activities, reflecting solidarity and friendship among Venezuelan political forces toward Vietnam’s development.
Recalling his multiple visits to Vietnam, most recently in September 2025, Ortega spoke highly of the country’s socio-economic achievements, poverty reduction efforts and improvements in living standards. He also expressed admiration for the sacrifices made by the Vietnamese people in their struggle for independence and national reunification, affirming that Vietnam’s achievements demonstrate the leadership role of the Communist Party and the enduring relevance of President Ho Chi Minh’s thought.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My briefed the delegation on the outcomes of the 14th National Party Congress, noting that the Congress adopted important policy directions, ushering in a new development phase. Vietnam aims to become a developing country with modern industry and upper-middle income status by 2030, and a developed, high-income economy by 2045.
Ambassador My thanked the PSUV, the Government and people of Venezuela, as well as political parties in the country, for their support for Vietnam. He stressed that Vietnam attaches importance to the traditional friendship nurtured by late President Hugo Chávez and successive generations of leaders of both countries.
The diplomat affirmed that Vietnam would continue efforts to deepen the Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries, as well as cooperation between the two ruling parties and the two national assemblies, contributing to each country’s development and enhancing their international standing.
Earlier, the ambassador also received leaders of several parties within the ruling “Great Patriotic Pole” (GPP) coalition, including the Electoral Movement of the People (MEP), the Fatherland for All Party (PPT) and the Tupamaro Party, who came to extend congratulations on the success of the 14th National Party Congress.
