Venezuela congratulates Vietnam on Party Congress, agrees to resume cooperation mechanisms
VOV.VN - Venezuela has congratulated Vietnam on the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, while the two sides agreed to work towards resuming bilateral cooperation mechanisms during phone talks between their foreign ministers.
Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung held phone talks with Yvan Gil Pinto, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela on the evening of January 30 in Hanoi.
Minister Yvan Gil Pinto warmly congratulated the success of the 14th National Party Congress and conveyed congratulations from Acting President Delcy Rodriguez and Diosdado Cabello, General Secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), to Party General Secretary To Lam and the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam elected by the Congress.
He expressed admiration for Vietnam’s major socio-economic development achievements as well as its growing international standing and reputation during the Doi Moi (Renewal) process, affirming that the Venezuelan Government and the PSUV attach great importance to solidarity and cooperation with Vietnam. He said Venezuela hopes to further tighten and expand cooperation with Vietnam within the framework of the Comprehensive Partnership in the new context.
On behalf of the CPV Central Committee and Party General Secretary To Lam, Minister Le Hoai Trung conveyed sincere thanks to the PSUV leadership for their congratulatory message on the 14th National Congress, as well as to Acting President Delcy Rodriguez and PSUV General Secretary Diosdado Cabello for their congratulations following General Secretary To Lam’s re-election by the Party Central Committee for the new term.
Minister Le Hoai Trung briefed his counterpart on the key outcomes of the 14th National Congress and noted that Vietnam closely follows developments and shares the challenges facing the Venezuelan people. He reaffirmed the consistent stance of the Party, State and people of Vietnam in valuing the traditional friendship and solidarity with the PSUV, the Government and the people of Venezuela, while underscoring Vietnam’s desire to consolidate and further deepen traditional cooperation and promote practical, effective development of bilateral ties.
The two diplomats exchanged views on recent developments in each Party and country and agreed to coordinate the resumption and effective operation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, starting with the fourth session of the Intergovernmental Committee and political consultations between the two foreign ministries.
They also consented to review signed agreements and cooperation projects, along with potential initiatives in line with both sides’ strengths and needs, to shape a new bilateral agenda that strengthens the Comprehensive Partnership for the benefit of both nations and contributes to peace, stability, cooperation and development in their respective regions and globally.
