Top Vietnamese leader visits China–ASEAN AI Cooperation Centre
VOV.VN - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President To Lam toured the China–ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Application Cooperation Centre in Nanning, Guangxi, on April 17, as part of his ongoing state visit to China.
The centre, jointly established by China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and ASEAN countries, aims to promote inclusive and mutually beneficial development of artificial intelligence (AI) at the global level. It is also regarded as a flagship project in advancing the “Digital Silk Road” initiative in Nanning.
Launched in its first phase on June 30, 2025, the centre covers a total development area of approximately 7.78 square kilometres, including a core facility spanning around 19,000 square metres.
The initiative is designed to support capable Chinese enterprises in exploring the needs and potential of ASEAN markets, while fostering cooperation in applying AI technologies across key sectors such as agriculture, health care, tourism, education, finance, and logistics. It also focuses on developing AI talent to meet regional demand.
As of the end of 2025, a total of 51 projects in China and 16 projects in ASEAN countries had been signed within the framework of the centre.
The centre plans to expand its network by establishing additional branches in cities across China and ASEAN member states.
Notably, Hanoi and Guangxi signed a memorandum of understanding in November 2025 to jointly study the establishment of a Vietnam–China AI application cooperation centre.
