PM Pham Minh Chinh meets Vietnamese expatriates in Brazil
VOV.VN - Upon arriving in Rio de Janeiro for the G20 Summit activities on November 16 (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Brazil.
At the gathering, representatives of the Vietnamese community in Brazil and South America expressed their joy at the PM’s visit to Brazil which they believed would help strengthen and enhance bilateral relations, particularly in trade and investment.
They thanked the Party and State for paying attention to their lives and affirmed their commitment to further contributing to their homeland and nurturing the relationship between the two countries. They expressed their confidence in the strong development and bright future of Vietnam, and hoped that the Prime Minister would urge the governments of their host countries to protect their legitimate rights and create favourable conditions for them to work and live.
Expressing joy at meeting the community, the PM affirmed that the Vietnamese community abroad is an integral part of the Vietnamese nation, that the Party and State always pay attention and have implemented various policies to encourage and facilitate the livelihoods of citizens living overseas, with increasingly improved mechanisms.
He expressed hope that Vietnamese expatriates in Brazil would serve as a bridge between Vietnam and Brazil, continue to promote solidarity and national pride, assist each other to overcome difficulties, strive to integrate positively, abide by local laws, and contribute to development in their host country.
The community should always keep in mind their fatherland and proactively make more practical and effective contributions to the fatherland’s development efforts, he reminded.
The PM was pleased to learn that Vietnamese expatriates in Brazil enjoy a stable, prosperous, and happy life, support one another and receive adequate legal conditions from local authorities.
He briefed them on Vietnam’s major development orientations as well as the Vietnam – Brazil cooperation outlook, noting that both Vietnam and Brazil are significant markets for each other and gateways to their respective regions. There is substantial potential for cooperation between the two countries, which has not yet been fully realized. His trip is to enhance the substantive and effective cooperation between the two countries.
He requested the Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil to support the community’s development and protect their legitimate rights and interests, considering this a crucial duty alongside other affairs.
