VOV.VN - A high-ranking delegation of Vietnam led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh left Hanoi on November 16 for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to attend the G20 Summit at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
The Summit, themed “Building A Fair World and A Sustainable Planet”, will prioritize discussions on poverty reduction, sustainable development, energy transition and the reform of global governance institutions.
In addition to the official G20 members, this year’s summit will be attended by heads of state and government from 19 guest countries, as well as leaders from 15 major international organizations. This is the fifth time that Vietnam has been invited to participate in a G20 Summit.
For many years, the G20 has been one of the most important global governance platforms, playing a critical role in leading and shaping international efforts to address global challenges. This summit provides an opportunity for Vietnam to actively and responsibly contribute to key global issues, in line with the country’s growing stature as it enters a new era of development. The Prime Minister’s participation and speech will send a strong message of a dynamic, innovative Vietnam, which is ready to shoulder global responsibilities.
On this occasion, PM Pham Minh Chinh will pay visits to Brazil and the Dominican Republic.
