Lao leader Thongloun Sisoulith concludes state visit to Vietnam
VOV.VN - Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and his spouse on January 27 concluded a state visit to Vietnam, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to further deepening their special relationship and comprehensive cooperation.
Speaking at a farewell ceremony, Tran Cam Tu, Permanent Member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, expressed appreciation for the visit, which took place shortly after the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the CPV and the 12th National Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
The visit once again demonstrated the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic cohesion between the two Parties and States, he said.
The official noted the Lao leader paid an early visit to Vietnam following the 12th Party Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party to congratulate Vietnam on the success of its 14th Party Congress, reflecting the high importance Laos attaches to relations with Vietnam.
He said both sides would work closely to implement resolutions adopted at the two Party congresses and agreements reached at the high level, meeting the expectations of the two Parties and peoples.
For his part, Party General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith stressed that the special relationship between Laos and Vietnam is a priceless common asset, and affirmed the determination of both sides to preserve and further strengthen the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation that no force can undermine.
He said that following the 12th Party Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, he and other Lao leaders wished to visit Vietnam as their first foreign destination.
He expressed his hope to welcome CPV General Secretary To Lam and other Vietnamese leaders to Laos in the near future.
As both Parties are entering new terms after successful congresses, the Lao leader said his visit carries deep political and historical significance and opens a new stage of development in bilateral relations.
Both sides, he added, would continue to effectively implement high-level agreements and further deepen practical cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
