Top Lao leader pays tribute to President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi
VOV.VN - Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation of the Lao Party and State, laid a wreath and paid tribute at the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi on January 27 as part of his state visit to Vietnam.
Vietnam’s Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung joined the Lao delegation in tribute to the great leader of Vietnam.
The delegation expressed profound respect and remembrance for President Ho Chi Minh, the hero of national liberation and a great cultural figure of Vietnam.
Among the enduring legacies left by President Ho Chi Minh, his vision of pure international solidarity, particularly the foundation he laid for the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, remains one of the most vivid and meaningful examples.
Following the visit to the Mausoleum, General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, his spouse and the high-level Lao delegation laid a wreath in tribute to fallen heroes at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs.
General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith arrived in Hanoi on January 26 for a two-day State visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Party General Secretary To Lam.
The Lao leader attended an official welcoming ceremony at the Presidential Palace with the highest protocol reserved for heads of state. He held talks with General Secretary To Lam and paid courtesy calls on State President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.
Vietnam is the first country visited by Thongloun Sisoulith in his capacity as Lao Party General Secretary and President following the successful congresses of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam. The visit holds historic significance, demonstrating the Lao Party and State’s special regard for Vietnam–Laos relations and contributing to elevating the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic bond between the two countries to a new height.
