Petrol prices surge, RON 95 exceeds VND21,000 per litre
VOV.VN - In the latest price adjustment on June 19, domestic fuel prices saw a sharp increase, with RON 95 exceeding VND21,000 per litre.
Accordingly, RON 95 rose by VND1,280 per liter, pushing its retail price to VND21,240 per liter, crossing the VND21,000 mark for the first time in months. Meanwhile, E5 RON 92 increased by VND1,170, reaching VND20,630 per liter.
Other fuel products also saw notable hikes, with diesel up VND1,450 to VND19,150/liter, kerosene up VND1,410 to VND18,920/liter, and mazut oil up VND 1,180 to VND17,640/kg.
The sharp increase in domestic fuel prices was primarily driven by a surge in global oil prices. On June 18, Brent crude oil rose to around US$85/barrel (up 1.28%), while WTI crude hovered near US$82/barrel (up 0.05%), due to growing global demand expectations and concerns over short-term supply shortages.
In this pricing cycle, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance did not use the Price Stabilisation Fund, meaning the impact of global price increases was fully reflected in domestic retail prices.
So far in 2025, RON 95 has been raised 14 times and reduced 11 times. This marks the fourth consecutive price increase following a brief drop, although current prices remain at their lowest level in four years, comparable to June 2021.
