First “Gánh vị Đà Nẵng” parade captures attention on My Khe Beach
VOV.VN - The “Gánh vị Đà Nẵng” (Da Nang Flavor Parade) was held on the evening of May 20 for the first time along My Khe Beach and nearby tourist streets in the central city of Da Nang.
More than 70 mobile food vendors moved across the beach accompanied by familiar street cries, recreating rustic scenes that attracted residents and visitors.
Organized by Da Nang’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the parade was one of the standout new features of the Da Nang Food Tour Festival 2026. The event was designed as an immersive cultural experience, allowing residents and tourists to experience the atmosphere of local street food culture firsthand.
The food vendors joined the procession, reviving images closely associated with the memories of generations in central Vietnam. The offerings ranged from Mi Quang (Quang-style turmeric noodles), cao lau (Hoi An-style noodles), banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancakes), seafood and Quang-region mountain specialties to Japanese sushi, Mexican tacos and Italian pizza.
Each “gánh vị” (mobile street food stall) reflected a distinct cultural identity, contributing to a blend of local cuisine, regional Vietnamese dishes and international culinary traditions.
Residents and tourists not only sampled Quang-region specialties and internationally known dishes, but also experienced the sounds, images and rhythm of life in the coastal city.
Cris Smith, an American tourist visiting Da Nang with relatives during the festival, said he was impressed by the blend of culinary traditions from different regions and described the event as unlike any food festival he had encountered during his travels.
Through the “Gánh vị Đà Nẵng” parade, the city aims to honor the local culinary in a creative and accessible way while further promoting Da Nang as a destination for festivals, events and cuisine in the region.
Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of Da Nang’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the event introduced a creative approach to promoting local culinary culture by bringing street vendors, familiar street cries and everyday life into a modern festival setting.
