Phở roadshow brings Vietnamese culinary culture to Europe
VOV.VN - A program aimed at introducing Vietnamese culinary culture through Phở, Vietnam’s traditional noodle dish, was launched at a press briefing held by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Hanoi on May 14.
Upon addressing the event, Nguyen Quynh Mai, Deputy Chairwoman of the Committee, said the Phở Cultural Roadshow Europe 2026 is not merely a promotional event but also part of broader efforts to share Vietnamese cultural pride with the world through Phở, widely regarded as one of the country’s most iconic dishes.
Cuisine is among Vietnam’s most distinctive cultural values, with Phở evolving into a cultural symbol that reflects the country’s history and the sophistication of the Vietnamese people.
Overseas Vietnamese communities, she noted, have played an important role in expanding the global presence of Phở, helping turn the dish into a familiar cultural bridge between Vietnam and people around the world.
Mai also praised the efforts of the We Love Phở Association in organizing Pho Week in Europe in December 2025, which drew participation from more than 250 restaurants across over 25 countries and received the 2025 National Award for External Information Service.
She reaffirmed that overseas Vietnamese communities are an inseparable part of the nation and an important resource for national development, adding that the committee will continue supporting activities that promote cultural exchange and Vietnam’s image abroad.
Meanwhile, Le Thi Thiet, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association and Chairwoman of the Ninh Binh Culinary Culture Association, described the program as an important milestone in efforts to bring Vietnamese culinary culture to Europe.
She said the initiative aims to present Phở as a way to tell stories about Vietnam and its people while supporting tourism promotion and showcasing the country’s image abroad.
According to organizers, the roadshow is expected to take place from late June to mid-July this year in several European cities, including Warszawa, Bratislava, Trnava, Vienna, Budapest, Praha, Bochum and Berlin.
Jointly organized by the We Love Phở Association and the Ninh Binh Culinary Culture Association, the program is designed as a cross-Europe cultural and culinary campaign with a view to strengthening the global presence of Phở as a symbol of Vietnamese culture.
Organizers said the initiative also seeks to connect overseas Vietnamese communities while introducing Vietnam’s culture, tourism and culinary ecosystem to international friends through Phở.
