In the January 17 announcements, the seven biggest businesses with earned revenues exceeding VND100,000 billion include PVN, Petrolimex, Samsung Electronics Vietnam, the military-run Telecom Group Viettel, Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), and the Vietnam-Russia joint venture VietsovPetro.
Private businesses represented more than 44% of Vietnam’s top 500 largest enterprises by revenue (VNR 500), state enterprises over 40%, and foreign businesses over 15%.
State enterprises still dominate in terms of revenue, constituting 62% of the cumulative VNR500 total (followed by the private sector with 19.4% and the foreign sector with 18.5%).
The industrial sector contributed more than 73.6% of VNR500 revenue, followed by the service sector with nearly 23.5%, and the agro-forestry-seafood sector with nearly 3%.
Revenues from the mining and oil and gas sector accounted for over 33.6% of the total, followed by the electric sector (14.5%), and finance, banking, security, insurance, and jewellery (12.3%).
