Of the qualified nations, four teams from Southeast Asia have made the finals. They include Malaysia, who finished first in Group G, Indonesia, who finished first in Group K, Vietnam, who finished second in Group J, and Laos, who finished second in Group H.
Cambodia could become the fifth Southeast Asian representative to enter the final round of the competition if they can be among the top five best second-placed teams. Currently, they are ranked fifth among the second-placed teams.
However, with Group A yet to conclude, the Cambodian team are at risk of dropping to sixth place and missing out on the chance of progressing to the finals.
Group A’s fixtures are scheduled to take place in Oman from November 22 to November 30.
The final round of the 2020 AFC U-19 Championship will be held in Uzbekistan in October, 2020.
The tournament’s four semi-finalists will go on to compete in the U20 World Cup 2021 in Indonesia. If Indonesia are able to secure a place in the semi-finals, then the competition’s fifth-place team will progress instead.
