The V. League 1 came in 22nd overall in Asia, according to the latest rankings of the Asian Football Confederation.

Thailand’s league stands 8th in Asia, the Philippines’ 12th, Singapore’s 16th and Malaysia’s ranks 17th.

The Chinese league tops the overall rankings.

Since 2015, V. League 1 teams Song Lam Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Quang Ninh and Hanoi have failed to get past the AFC Cup group stage, while other regional teams have performed well in the AFC Champions League, two key competitions for tanking points.

In the last two years, Thai teams have entered the knockout stages of the AFC Champions League, while in the AFC Cup, representatives of Myanmar have reached the round of 16 four times and the Philippines have twice played in the round of 16.
