The squad is most notable for who has not been selected however, with a number of talented young Vietnamese players such as midfielder Quang Hai, goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung, and forward Ha Duc Chinh, being left out.
The squad announcement is the first stage of preparations for the SEA Games 30, according to the head coach. In preparation for the tournament which will take place in the Philippines in late November, the U23 squad will take part in training camps that have been divided into seven periods. The camps will be held between July 8 and July 11, July 22 and July 25, August 5 and August 8, August 12 and August 15, September 2 and September 10, October 7 and October 31, and finally November 1 and November 20.
As scheduled, the Vietnam U23 team will take part in a one-month training camp in Ho Chi Minh City or Binh Duong province in order to climatise with weather conditions which they will face in the Philippines.
