The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has assigned the Department of Justice with proposing regulations to force people who are at high risk of contracting the COVID-19 to be quarantined whilst also punishing those who fail to wear a face mask in public.
Lawyer Do Truc Lam, director of Lam Tri Viet law firm, says that these measures are based on law and will help to ensure that the entire community remains in good health. As this policy will benefit the wellbeing of local residents he wholeheartedly supports it.
Truong Quang Long, a resident of Phu Nhuan district, notes that the development of the COVID-19 epidemic remains a very complicated matter. If municipal authorities aren’t proactive enough then their failure to act will allow the COVID-19 to swiftly spread and have a hugely negative impact on the community, he adds.
He suggests that stronger prevention measures should be taken to put those at risk of infection into isolation in order to stop the possibility of disease transmission to the wider community.
City authorities have also urged local people to step up joint efforts, and raise individual responsibility for the proper implementation of epidemic prevention measures.
