COVID-19: Vietnam confirms another imported case

VOV.VN - The Ministry of Health on June 26 reported that another Vietnamese citizen returning from overseas has been diagnosed with the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the COVID-19 disease.

More COVID-19 infections are expected as more Vietnamese citizens residing abroad are returning to the homeland due to COVID-19 fears in their host countries
The 31-year-old man, who lives in Hanoi, returned to Vietnam’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport from Cameroon on June 24.

He was said to transit through Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Malaysia before landing in Vietnam.

He was placed in quarantine upon arrival, and June 26 tests showed he had been infected with the virus.

The patient was then transferred to Ho Chi Minh City-based Cu Chi field hospital for medical observation and treatment.

Also on June 26, a COVID-19 patient was discharged from the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Hanoi after making a full recovery.

As of 6pm on June 26, Vietnam has recorded a total of 353 coronavirus cases, of which 330 have fully recovered and have been discharged from hospital. No deaths have been reported.

According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam has gone through 71 days without new community infections.
