Vietnam welcomes over 2 million international visitors in April 2026
VOV.VN - Vietnam welcomed more than 2 million international visitors in April 2026, marking a continued surge in tourism and reinforcing its position as a leading destination in Asia.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the country received 2.03 million foreign arrivals in April alone, bringing the total number of international visitors in the first four months of the year to 8.8 million. This represents a 14.6% increase compared to the same period last year and fulfills 35% of the full-year target of 25 million international arrivals in 2026.
This marks the first time Vietnam has recorded over 2 million international visitors each for four consecutive months, as well as the highest-ever total for the January–April period.
The strong performance highlights Vietnam’s growing reputation as a safe, stable, and increasingly attractive destination on the global tourism map.
During the reviewed period, Vietnam’s top 10 source markets were China, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Taiwan (China), Cambodia, the United States, India, Japan, Australia, and the Philippines. Together, these markets accounted for approximately 72% of total international arrivals, with China and the Republic of Korea alone making up 39.8%.
Notably, the structure of source markets is becoming more diversified and balanced, with several emerging markets gaining momentum.
Russia, in particular, recorded a remarkable surge of nearly 300% year on year. This growth has been driven by the strong recovery of direct flight routes, increasing demand for long-stay resort travel, and Vietnam’s competitive advantages in safety, hospitality infrastructure, natural conditions, and cost.
These factors have positioned Vietnam as one of the top choices for Russian tourists traveling to Asia.
