Vietnam welcomes nearly 2.1 million international visitors in January
VOV.VN - Vietnam welcomed nearly 2.1 million international tourists in the first month of this year, a year-on-year rise of 18.5%, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO) on February 6.
The GSO report shows that 1.8 million foreign visitors arrived in the country by air, up 39.6%, while those travelling by road stood at 228,400, up 29.1%.
Moreover, about 44.900 foreigners arrived by sea, down 7.2%.
During the reviewed period, total tourism revenue was estimated at VND5.1 trillion, up 17.3% compared to the same period last year thanks to significant travel demand during the New Year and Lunar New Year holidays.
The number of international visitors to Vietnam has increased significantly thanks to favourable visa policies and effective promotional strategies by localities.
In 2025, Vietnam's tourism industry strives to welcome 22-23 million international visitors.
To meet the set target, it will focus resources on potential and high-quality markets such as China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Southeast Asia, North America, India, and the Middle East.
