Vietnam tourism promoted at Canadian travel, vacation show

The Vietnamese Embassy in Canada opened a booth to promote Vietnam as a must-visit destination of the new millennium at the 28th Canada Travel and Vacation Show that took place in Ottawa on April 12-13.

The show attracted over 200 exhibitors and nearly 20,000 visitors as Canada is to enter summer – time for bustling travel activities.

Do Ha Thao, secretary in charge of cultural affairs at the embassy, said that visitors show great interest in the Vietnamese booth, asking for information about tours and promotional programmes. Some of the visitors had previously been to Vietnam and wish to return.

Chris Wang, executive director of Trip Connoisseurs Canada, said that Vietnam consistently ranks second among the company's Asian destinations, after Japan, and that tourism in Vietnam is experiencing significant growth with booming tourism infrastructure. Tourists who have visited Vietnam have provided positive feedback and expressed a desire to return. Many have even become regular travellers, wanting to revisit Vietnam after 2-3 years.

Wang said that his company currently organises trips for about 800-1,000 tourists to Vietnam each year and plans to increase this number by designing customised tours based on client requests. In the future, the company will also create themed tours that incorporate visits to attractions like Hoi An and Sa Pa.

The private Vietnamese travel company Indochina Charmtours and EVA Air which operates numerous flights connecting Canada to all three regions of Vietnam, also participated in this event to help guide Canadian tourists to Asia, particularly Vietnam.

Linh Ho from EVA Air's customer service department shared that the airline hopes to promote more images of Asian countries, especially Vietnam. Additionally, the airline aims to connect with various Vietnamese and international travel companies to create exclusive tours for Canadians traveling to Vietnam and to bring the image of Vietnam to Canada.
