Vietnam strengthens cultural exchange and tourism promotion in Sydney

VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) in collaboration with the Vietnam Tourism Development Fund (VTDF), on November 27 organised a tourism promotion and business networking programme in Sydney on November 27, aiming to strengthen ties with the Australian tourism market.

The event was attended by a Vietnamese working delegation led by VNAT Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Consul General and Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Sydney Tran Thi Thanh My, Special Advisor to the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), representatives of Vietnamese trade and media agencies in Sydney, and more than 100 participants from tourism authorities, travel agencies, hotels, transportation and airlines from both countries.

In his opening remarks, VNAT Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu noted that tourism has become one of the most dynamic areas of cooperation between Vietnam and Australia, especially since the two countries elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2024.

This upgraded framework, he noted, will create even stronger collaboration between the national tourism authorities and help foster deeper connections among tourism businesses on both sides.

Deputy Consul General Tran Thi Thanh My confirmed that Vietnam remains one of the most popular destinations in Southeast Asia. She stressed that the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney is committed to working closely with VNAT and Australian partners to facilitate travel, share information and address concerns, aiming to welcome more Australians to Vietnam.

During the event, Vietnam was showcased as one of the region’s top destinations, boasting a wealth of UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Ha Long Bay, Phong Nha–Ke Bang, Trang An, Hoi An, My Son Sanctuary, the Complex of Hue Monuments, the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, and the Ho Dynasty Citadel.

The programme also offered Vietnamese and Australian businesses the chance to meet, form partnerships and present their tourism services at a Vietnam–Australia B2B networking session.

Luke Mitchell, director of travel company Adventure Proud shared that he was truly impressed by Vietnam’s traditional culture, natural beauty, and rich culinary heritage.

The executive stressed that the company has already established initial connections with several Vietnamese travel firms, hotels and airlines through the B2B programme and would continue exploring the market with a view to expanding cooperation in the future.

Guests at the event also had chance to enjoy a cultural performance introducing Vietnamese heritage through traditional musical instruments, featuring artists from the Vietnam National Music Song and Dance Theatre.
