Vietnam Airlines launches Ho Chi Minh City – Bali air route

VOV.VN - National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines on June 1 launched a direct flight route from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Denpasar, the capital of Bali (Indonesia).

Airbus A321 carrying 161 passengers on board departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City at 10:25 A.M. and landed at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar at 3:00 P.M. on the same day, kick-starting the direct flight between the two destinations.

To celebrate the new route, Vietnam Airlines held welcoming events at both airports and gave souvenirs to passengers on the first flight.

This marks the airline’s second destination in Indonesia and a strategic move to expand its flight network across Southeast Asia, addressing the growing travel demand between Vietnam and Indonesia.

In the first phase, Vietnam Airlines will operate 4 round-trip flights per week on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, before raising the frequency to seven, starting in July 2025.

According to Vietnam Airlines, the launch of the Ho Chi Minh City – Bali route marks a strategic step toward expanding the airline’s network in Southeast Asia and meeting the growing travel demand between Vietnam and Indonesia. It also supports tourism recovery and enhances bilateral ties.

The launch also coincides with the 70th anniversary of Vietnam–Indonesia diplomatic relations, , making it not only a milestone in aviation and tourism but also a symbolic event in diplomacy, as both countries pledge to strengthen trade, investment, and cultural exchanges.

Beyond serving Vietnamese travelers heading to Bali, this route plays a strategic role in Vietnam Airlines’ international network. Thanks to convenient flight times, it allows for seamless connections with flights from Europe, Northeast Asia, India, and the United States, enhancing interregional connectivity and optimising the airline’s international route efficiency.
