Vietnam Airlines launches new air routes to India

VOV.VN - Vietnam Airlines launched a new direct route from Hanoi to Bengaluru, India’s major technology hub, on May 1, operating four round trips per week.

Flight VN983 departed from Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport carrying over 130 passengers, and landed in Bengaluru on the same day. The return flight VN982, with more than 160 passengers, landed in Hanoi on May 2 morning, marking the inauguration of the direct Hanoi–Bengaluru service.

The airline plans to commence the Hanoi–Hyderabad service from May 7, using Airbus A321 aircraft, with three weekly round trips.

With these new routes, Vietnam Airlines now operates six direct routes to four major Indian cities - New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. This expanded network is expected to boost travel, trade, and bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

According to Dang Anh Tuan, deputy CEO of Vietnam Airlines, India is currently one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world, with a population of over 1.4 billion and a rapidly expanding middle class.

“Expanding our flight network to major technology hubs like Bengaluru and Hyderabad not only meets growing travel demand but also reinforces our role in connecting Vietnam with South Asia,” said Tuan.

Since launching flights to India, Vietnam Airlines has operated over 3,200 flights, serving more than 511,700 passengers. In 2024 alone, Vietnam welcomed over 500,000 Indian visitors, making India one of Vietnam’s top 10 tourism markets.
