Travel firms suspend tours to conflict-affected areas in Middle East
VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) has instructed travel agencies to suspend tours to conflict-affected areas in Iran, Israel and neighbouring parts of the Middle East, citing safety concerns.
In an official dispatch sent to outbound tour operators, the authority called for urgent measures to ensure the safety of Vietnamese travelers amid escalating instability in the region. The directive follows advisories issued by Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, warning of disruptions to travel and heightened security risks in several Middle Eastern destinations.
Travel companies have been asked to closely monitor developments in affected areas, strictly comply with guidance from diplomatic authorities, and refrain from organising tours to locations deemed unsafe, says the VNAT document.
For tour groups currently present in impacted areas, agencies are required to maintain regular contact with local partners and Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad to safeguard travelers and implement necessary citizen protection measures. Companies must also promptly report any emergencies to the tourism authority for coordinated handling.
A representative of an outbound travel firm told local media that prior to and during the recent Lunar New Year holiday, the company had operated tours to destinations including Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Jordan and Qatar. However, those itineraries concluded shortly after the holiday period.
“The tours we organised to Middle Eastern destinations concluded during and shortly after the recent Lunar New Year holiday. Travelers are highly sensitive to safety information, and travel companies are equally cautious when arranging tours to ensure safe and positive experiences. As soon as we became aware of the escalating conflict in the region, we decided to temporarily suspend operations to the affected destinations,” the representative said.
