The Longest Skywalk in Asia Being Built in Betong District of Yala

Construction of the longest skywalk in Asia is now underway in Aiyoe Weng subdistrict, Betong district, the southern border province of Yala. The skywalk will take visitors to appreciate the beautiful scenery of Betong, especially the Aiyoe Weng fantastic sea of clouds.

Chief Administrator of the Aiyoe Weng Subdistrict Administrative Organization Aree Nuchusuk said that a budget of 91 million baht had been allocated for the construction of the skywalk, which is expected to be opened in 2020.

The sea of clouds in Aiyoe Weng is being promoted as a new attraction in Betong. It is the most enchanting mist in the southern region and has become a popular attraction among both Thai and Malaysian tourists, as well as other foreign visitors.

The Aiyoe Weng mist has been publicized widely in the social media, and it is expected that more and more visitors from neighboring countries will visit this new attraction, when both the skywalk and Betong Airport are opened in 2020.

Today, 40 percent of all tourists in Betong are Thais, while 60 percent are Malaysians.  The operations of the skywalk and Betong Airport are likely to generate more tourism income to the town of Betong, from 1,800 million baht annually at present to 4,000-5,000 million baht a year in the future.

Betong has been selected as a target area in the project, called "Triangle of Stability, Prosperity, and Sustainability.” It is now being developed into a model sustainable development city under this project.
