Tay Ninh tourism gains boost from TPO conference

VOV.VN - The 2026 Vietnam regional meeting of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Global Cities (TPO) held in Tay Ninh province, southern Vietnam from April 14-15 drew more than 160 domestic and international delegates, opening opportunities to strengthen linkages and boost sustainable tourism development in the southeastern region.

In his speech, Pham Tan Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh provincial People’s Committee, said that in the context of integration, tourism is not only a key economic sector but also a bridge for cultural exchange and a means to enhance the locality’s standing. The participation of delegations from the Republic of Korea, Malaysia and various Vietnamese provinces and cities highlights Tay Ninh’s growing appeal and role in international tourism cooperation networks.

With its economy reaching over US$13.3 billion in 2025, ranking eighth among 34 provinces and centrally run cities, and per capita income at US$4,776 per year, Tay Ninh has a favourable foundation to develop tourism into a key economic sector. Its more than 368km border with Cambodia and position as a gateway linking the Mekong sub-region provide favourable conditions to expand cross-border tourism routes.

Discussions at the conference proposed several regional cooperation measures, including the development of inter-provincial tour chains between the southeastern and southwestern regions, cross-border tourism links between Vietnam and Cambodia, stronger digital transformation through shared promotion platforms and tourism data exchange, as well as coordinated efforts to promote international markets.

In addition, attracting investment in infrastructure, improving workforce quality and strengthening the role of international organisations such as TPO in connecting partners were identified as key to enhancing competitiveness.

If these cooperation frameworks are effectively utilised, Tay Ninh’s tourism sector, within the broader southern tourism system, is expected to accelerate growth, thus contributing to regional development and gradually reach international markets.
