Tan Son Nhat’s terminal T3 targets 2.3 million passengers this summer

VOV.VN - TTan Son Nhat International Airport's newly-inaugurated domestic terminal 3 (T3) in Ho Chi Minh City is expected to serve nearly 2.3 million passengers during this year’s summer peak season from June 1 to August 15.

This figure accounts for roughly one-fourth of the airport’s total summer passenger volume of 9.9 million, including around 4 million international arrivals. On average, the airport expects to handle 122,000 passengers per day, up 9% from current volumes.

While Terminal 3 handles a smaller share of total traffic, it plays a significant role in reducing congestion at Terminal 1, which has long been strained during peak periods.

Thanks to a well-planned traffic redistribution, Vietnam Airlines has moved all domestic flights to the new terminal. This strategic shift has helped ease overcrowding at T1 and improved the overall passenger experience, especially during high-demand travel times.

Due to the high demand for travel during the summer, the airport also plans to handle 730 flights daily, an increase of approximately 10% compared to the current schedule.

According to the ACV, based on the decision of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, Tan Son Nhat International Airport has adjusted flight scheduling parameters at the airport to serve the increased travel demand of passengers during the peak season.

Currently, there are six domestic airlines operating at the airport. During the peak summer season, Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet Air have planned to increase their flight frequency with an average of 256 flights per day and 252 flights per day, an increase of 16% and 13%, respectively.

Pacific Airlines, Bamboo Airways, Vasco, and Vietravel Airlines have still maintained their current flight schedules with 10, 22, 16, and 8 eight flights per day, respectively.

International flight operations remain steady, with about 48,000 foreign passengers expected daily.
