Tan Son Nhat Airport to raise flight slot limit to ease holiday congestion
VOV.VN - The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has announced adjustments to the takeoff and landing slots at Tan Son Nhat International Airport during the April 30-May 1 holiday period to meet the travel demand.
Accordingly, the slot capacity at the airport will be increased from 44 to 46 flights per hour for the break from April 25 to May 5. The adjustment is intended to enhance operational efficiency and ease congestion as passenger volumes rise significantly over the holiday period.
Previously, the Vietnam Airlines Group, comprising Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and Vasco, projected the provision of nearly 1.12 million seats across domestic and international routes during the combined peak travel periods of Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day and the April 30–May 1 holiday. This represents an increase of 15.5% compared to the same period in 2025.
On routes among Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang, the number of seats will be up by nearly 30% compared to regular operations, reflecting strong demand between Vietnam’s major economic and tourism hubs.
Meanwhile, Vietjet Air has also announced an additional 500 flights during the peak season, equivalent to a 16% increase year on year. The airline plans to offer a total of approximately 832,000 seats during the period, up by 130,000 seats, or 18% compared to last year.
