RoK promotes healing tourism in Jeonbuk targeting Vietnamese travelers

VOV.VN - The Jeonbuk Culture and Tourism Foundation in coordination with the STP Institute for educational and vocational development research, on December 8 held a seminar on boosting cooperation and tourism between the Republic of Korea (RoK)’ Jeonbuk province and Vietnam, introducing Jeonbuk’s tourism potential to Vietnamese visitors.

Unlike the bustle of Seoul, Jeonbuk stands out for its tranquil atmosphere that blends tradition with nature, preserving hallmark cultural values such as hanbok, hanok, traditional music, hanji paper and local cuisine.

Lee Yong Woo, a representative of the Jeonbuk Culture and Tourism Foundation said the province is regarded as the cradle of Korean traditional culture, bringing together distinctive heritage values, scenic landscapes and abundant tourism resources. In recent years, Jeonbuk has steadily expanded its tourism offerings across experiential travel, healing tourism, cultural and culinary tourism, and community-based tourism to meet the increasingly diverse demands of international visitors.

He described Vietnam as one of their most important markets, noting strong growth in the number of Vietnamese traveling to the RoK. He also expressed confidence that Jeonbuk, with its advantages in nature, culture and unique tourism products, will become an appealing, safe and welcoming destination for Vietnamese tourists.

Nguyen Tien Dat, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi Tourism Association, said life pressures have made healing tourism increasingly popular.

According to the General Statistics Office, during the 11-month period of 2025, Vietnam welcomed 3.9 million visitors from the RoK, making it the country’s second-largest inbound market. Conversely, Vietnam currently ranks second among Southeast Asian markets sending travelers to the RoK.

With strengths in both natural scenery and traditional culture, Jeonbuk is considered a promising destination for Vietnamese travelers.

Targeting young travelers keen on Korean traditional culture, Jeonbuk offers hands-on experiences such as preparing bibimbap in traditional houses, making hanji paper, practicing taekwondo, meditation, and participating in wellness-based healing programs.
