Qatar Airways continues cancelling flights from Vietnam to Middle East

Qatar Airways has continued cancelling several passenger and cargo flights from Vietnam to the Middle East amid ongoing security concerns in the region.

According to the flight schedule on March 4, Qatar Airways (QR) cancelled flights coded QR983, QR977 and QR8951.

Meanwhile, Turkish Airlines operated normally its passenger flight TK252/TK253 on the Hanoi (HAN) – Istanbul (IST) route on the same day.

For flights scheduled on March 5, Emirates is still updating information regarding flight EK395, while Etihad Airways has announced the cancellation of flight EY433.

At Noi Bai International Airport, 33 aircraft are currently parked, including one from Emirates and two from Qatar Airways placed in long-term parking positions. On March 3, a total of 16 flights were cancelled, affecting around 3,800 passengers.

The Ministry of Construction said the security situation in the Middle East remains complicated, significantly affecting international aviation operations, particularly flights to, from or passing through conflict areas or restricted airspace.

The ministry has requested airlines to closely monitor updates from relevant authorities, including the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and aviation regulators of related countries to assess flight operations.

Airlines have also been urged to strengthen operational safety management, proactively adjust flight plans and select alternative routes to ensure the absolute safety of aircraft, crews and passengers, while keeping passengers informed of any schedule changes caused by security or safety concerns.
