Hue and Da Nang promote central Vietnam tourism to Malaysian market
VOV.VN - Tourism officials from Hue and Da Nang joined Malaysian partners to showcase Central Vietnam as a prime destination for Malaysian travelers, with a focus on Muslim-friendly tourism, in Kuala Lumpur on August 26.

Tran Thi Hoai Tram, director of Hue’s Department of Tourism, highlighted Malaysia as a key source market for the region. Hue and Da Nang attracted nearly 230,000 Malaysians in 2024 and over 140,000 arrivals recorded in the first half of the year alone.
She attributed this growth to local authorities’ efforts in developing Halal-certified restaurants and upgraded accommodations, positioning Central Vietnam as a compelling mix of cultural heritage, vibrant festivals, and diverse travel experiences. Tram expressed her hope that Hue and Da Nang would emerge as a “tourism duo” for Malaysian visitors.
Phua Tai Neng, CEO of the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA), praised the region’s attractions including UNESCO-recognized sites, pristine beaches, unique cuisine, and premium golf tourism. He also commended Vietnam’s commitment to Muslim-friendly services and encouraged deeper cooperation between the two countries’ tourism sectors.
Le Phu Cuong, Vietnam’s Trade Counselor in Malaysia, emphasised Central Vietnam’s strategic advantages, such as its proximity to Malaysia, accessible flight routes, and cultural similarities. For future collaboration, He proposed expanding air connectivity, developing Halal tourism products, and fostering stronger partnerships between Vietnamese and Malaysian travel firms.
The event featured over 100 Malaysian travel partners and 20 tourism firms from Hue and Da Nang in B2B networking sessions. Organisers expected the programme to pave the way for new agreements and increased Malaysian tourist arrivals to Central Vietnam over the coming months.
